It gives me immense pleasure and pride to address you as the Chancellor of the University of Baltistan, Skardu. As we stand amidst the majestic peaks of the Karakoram, Himalayas, and Hindu Kush, our university represents not just an institution of higher learning, but a beacon of hope and opportunity for the entire Gilgit-Baltistan region.

Since its establishment in 2010, University of Baltistan has embarked on a remarkable journey of academic excellence, research innovation, and community engagement. What began as a vision to provide accessible quality education in this remote yet strategically important region has blossomed into a vibrant academic community that is making significant contributions to the development of Gilgit-Baltistan and Pakistan.

The unique geographical location of our university presents both challenges and opportunities. The challenges of remoteness and harsh weather conditions have been met with resilience and determination. The opportunities lie in our ability to become a global center for research in high-altitude studies, glaciology, climate change, mountain agriculture, and sustainable tourism.

I am particularly proud of our focus on preserving and promoting the rich cultural heritage of Baltistan. Our university serves as a custodian of the region's history, languages, and traditions while simultaneously preparing our students to compete in the global marketplace.
